Vision/Mission

Mission

Enjoying and Glorifying God. This is where we start and end. We are here for God, to enjoy him, receive from him, and live for him. We love him first and foremost before we do anything and we love to express this together. However, we also enjoy and glorify God by

Being a Church Family from Many Nations. We are a church family where everyone can be themselves, can know they belong and are valued. Also, we are to be a diverse family from many nations. One-day people from every nation will gather round the throne of Jesus and worship Him. His vision for us is to live that out now. We have a growing number of nations in our church.

Declaring and Demonstrating the Gospel. We have good news for the world! The Gospel says that, through Jesus, people can get right with God and know him, receiving his life changing power. We want to declare this to our neighbours, colleagues, friends and family. However it’s not just our words – we want our lives to demonstrate Jesus wherever we are, whatever we are doing.

Our mission is also to show the love of God through doing good – especially to those in need. We want to serve others with no strings attached. For more about this see our Social Action section.

Winning Thousands of Passionate and Faithful Followers of Jesus. Our vision is to be a big church with major influence in the city. Our desire is to see thousands deciding to follow Jesus and becoming part of the City Church family. But it’s not all about numbers. We want to be a church where everyone is passionate about Jesus and living obedient lives for him.

Serving Local Churches to Transform Nations. Our vision is to be a church whose influence doesn’t end in Newcastle and Gateshead, but goes to the ends of the earth. The church is the hope of the world and we want to play our part in seeing God’s Kingdom come to the nations through local churches. To that end we are part of an international family of churches called newfrontiers.

Vision

A Church of thousands

Someone once described a vision as ‘a picture of the future that produces passion’ ( Hybels, Courageous Leadership, page 32)

When we look ahead, the picture that makes us passionate is of a huge, dynamic, city changing church. It’s a church bursting at the seams with new people - full to the brim with thousands of local and international people of different shapes, sizes, colours and languages, who are all gathering to meet with our great hero and God, Jesus Christ.

We picture a church on Tyneside that can introduce hundreds and thousands to Jesus for the first time: where every week scores are being baptised and welcomed into our growing church family.

We can picture a church that serves the poor and marginalised with incredible power and generosity – a church that loves justice and is involved where it really counts in our communities.

We can picture a church where there is incredible preaching that brings the Bible to life for the young and the old, and where we regularly encounter the living God in the power of the Spirit.

Our vision is to be a Church of thousands, so that we can serve thousands of people in this city, by introducing them to Jesus. Now that is a vision worth getting passionate about.
