Spiritual Gifts
Scripture says that as Christians we all have different spiritual gifts to contribute to the overall health and development of the church family. We believe that the Holy Spirit gives gifts so that the Church can be built up and reach maturity.

Scripture teaches us that there are many different sorts of gifts ( e.g. Rom 12:6-8; 1 Cor 12: 7-11; 27-30; Eph 4:11; Pet 4:9-11 ) There are speaking gifts, such as preaching, prophecy, tongues (speaking in spiritual languages ), interpretation of tongues and words of wisdom and knowledge. There are practical gifts such as administration, mercy, generosity, acts of kindness. There are also people gifts, such as apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers.
Therefore, a regular part of life at City Church is using gifts that benefit others. Sunday mornings for example will often be punctuated with scripture readings, or spontaneous songs, or words of prophecy.
City Groups are very participative events with lots of prayer and encouragement. Prayer meetings are full of praise, with many contributing what God has given them.

There are also loads of practical ways to serve with our gifts, through
social action projects, ministry to young people and children, practical serving in areas of health and safety and stewarding, creative opportunities for music and drama and much much more. If you would like to investigate how to serve with your gifts, speak to your city group leader as soon as you can.

We love the presence and power of the Holy Spirit – so come and use the gifts He has given you for the benefit of others.
