Childrens Work: Steppin’ Out
Steppin’ Out is our children’s work for kids aged between 0 and 11 years old. They are a fantastic bunch, right through from Crawlers (0-1) and Stompers (and they do!), to City Climbers which are our nursery and reception aged children and our ‘Sprinters’ which consists of children from school years 1-6. The kids have their own meetings for the duration of the morning service.We want our kids’ work to have meetings in which kids meet with God in an intimate and powerful way, grow in spiritual gifts, know Gods word in an environment that they are happy to bring their friends to. The type of meeting that they have depends on their age…
Crawlers and Stompers ( 0 – Walking )
Crawlers meet in a comfy room and are looked after by team consisting largely of mums doing lots of cuddling, feeding and changing of nappies! Once children are mobile and ready for more action they move into Stompers led by three very capable teams each with their own emphasis on worship, teaching or crafts.Climbers (nursery and reception)
Climbers are our nursery and reception aged children. The sessions are structured and not too big so the kids feel really safe. Emphasis is put on knowing God and learning his word and the kids are encouraged in worship every week. The room is adjacent to a soft playroom, ideal for burning off lots of energy!Sprinters (school years 1-6)
Sprinters has lots of variety with worship, slide shows, games, memory verses etc and for each term there’s a general theme. One term was the Wild West, so we had lots of ‘cotton-eyed-Jo’ music playing and ’howdy cowboys!’ to get their attention. A key change to our teaching of this age is the inclusion of younger helpers to bridge the gap between our children and us. Our 11-13 year olds are assistant helpers and our heart for them is to be involved in the preparation and leading of the morning as well as building relationships with the kids in other events.If you have children and would like to visit us, please ask at the information point to find out where these are taking place. Young People ( 11 – 18 )

Our 11-14s group meet throughout the year, often meeting part way through Sunday Mornings for teaching, worship and games. There are also regular social events and other opportunities to meet together.Ignite
Our 15-19s group meet most Friday nights, 8-10pm at the CastleGate. For more information please contact the city church office.Each year many of our young people attend the Newday conference, a major youth event that takes place in the heart of the nation, with thousands of young people over about 6 days. Who is it for? Newday is primarily aimed at young people between the ages of 12 & 19 but many people from different age groups come to serve and help out in practical ways. Newday is an outstanding opportunity to meet with God, the real God, the one who’s revealed himself to us in Jesus Christ. That’s the story for thousands of people who have come to Newday so far. Why not book in this year!
