Declaring The Gospel

Why does the Church exist? Well, in many ways, one of the main reasons the Church exists on this planet is to introduce as many people to Jesus as possible. This is one of our chief goals – to be a church that excels in sharing our faith with the city, our neighbours, friends, family and community. To declare the Gospel simply means to communicate, through word and deed, the good news that Jesus died, was raised to life and now lives to transform hearts that are far from God. At City Church we try and do this in a number of ways:

The Alpha Course – Each term we host a course that gives a basic introduction to Christianity in a fun, friendly environment – a perfect shop-window for those who want to find out more. Check out the alpha link for more information.

Guest Sundays – Each term we host Sunday morning meetings that are particularly geared to connect with visitors and guests, and present the truth of Christ in an imaginative and clear way. Past events have included looking at themes such as third world debt, or the nature of spiritual health.

City Group Life – City Church members meet all over the city during the week in smaller settings called city groups. A huge focus of these groups is connecting to ways in which we can serve the needs of our local communities, as well as investing time in friendships and prayer for the city.

Training – We want every member of the church able to share his or her faith in a relevant, clear way. To that end, we are committed to providing excellent training to the whole church on how to live out our Christian lives in everyday life – at home, at work, at play.

Special Events – Every year finds new opportunities to host imaginative and fun events that are open to all. In the past we have run very successful Valentines Balls, Iranian New Year’s parties, Murder Mystery evenings and original plays and theatre productions.
